My own little world...

This song is currently my all time favourite. It's a great challenge to not just live for yourslef but to fulfill the purpose that God has placed you on the earth for, but rather than me saying it all I'll let the song speak for its self

Reading...

One of my Challenges for myself this summer was to complete reading the book Total Truth by Nancy Pearcy. I'm afraid that this is becoming a challenge which is harder and harder to achieve. In my defense I HAVE read 2/3 of the book and absolutely loved it and what it has to say about our Christian World view and has lots of handy hints about the development of other world views and especially about Evolution. However, it is very heavy reading and I haven't really read from it for over more than a week so it is going to be really hard to get back into it and finish the book. BUT I WILL PREVAIL!!!

Small Steps

A month ago I had a post called New Shoes, in which I stated my incredible need to get a new pair of shoes. Last week  I finally bought another pair of shoes to repalce the old, faded comfortable pink converse I had. Yes they are still converse, but they are not old, faded or pink, and they are not comfortable either. I still have to break them in - slowly.

Lots of change in our life doesn't just happen overnight. Just like my new shoes aren't comfortable yet, any changes we make in our lifestyles and habits have to happen over time. We might want to make a change but it takes time to adjust to the differences we are making in our lives. It takes time to develop the new habits so that they do indeed become habits

Just like breaking in a pair of shoes (of for that case breaking anything in), we need to take small steps in order to achieve the ultimate goal. Making a big impact on the world is not something which we wake up one morning and decide to do. If that were the case we would become discouraged very quickly. Rather, if we take small steps at making an impact, starting with our family and friends, moving out to our church community or work enviroment and slowly expanding where we make an impact we would not feel so discouraged and would have the energy to continue changing the world...

Bush fire..

Australia truly is a country of wonders. What other country has cyclones and floods on one side while elsewhere 74 houses are burnt to the ground due to a ferocious bush fire.

These recent bush fires were really close to home for me. My Uncle and Auntie were required to evacuate their home and while nothing of theirs was damaged, several people of our Church community lost their houses to the ferocious blaze. This fire did not cover a large amount of ground as many previous bush fires have, BUT the number of houses destroyed is still catastrophic. the scariest part of all is that many of the houses are in what you may consider suburbia. We can really be thankful to our Heavenly Father that no lives were lost and that although many people are now without homes and will have to completely rebuild, the loss is only material.

Goodbye Summer

Dear Summer,
These past few months have been absolutely wonderful. I have immensely enjoyed basking in the sunshine and warmth you have provided. I have relished in the long hours of daylight and soaked up the cool summer evenings. Nevertheless, while this time has been wonderful I'm afraid that this cannot go on. Today is the second day of Febuary. School has started again and while there is still a month before uni begins, the small amount of routine that once organised my very unorrganised life, is beginning to fall back in place. I'm afraid that we must part ways if I am to sucessfully return to the life I once had.
Most sincerely, Me.

Ps. We will meet again next year, where I can once more lead a carefree existence and soak up the wonders of summer

Confessions...

I have a confession to make. I’m not really into the 30 day challenge I have set for myself, especially in the exercise department. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t failed in doing my 30mins of exercise per day, it’s just that my 30mins were 30mins of physical activity which could very well be counted as everyday activities for me and were not challenging enough. Additionally, while not eating any junk food, I have still eaten lots of unnecessary foods, such as biscuits, and  in my boredom I have found the pantry and fridge to be good companions. I have not failed in my challenge, but I have not done it to the best of my ability. Therefore, I am challenging myself to a healthy lifestyle which involves myself going for a ½ hour run every day as well as other exercise such as going to the gym, Zumba, horse riding... , as well as eating healthy foods in appropriately small proportions. This is in addition to my previous challenge. Only I am not going to post it up here on my blog. I have decided that this blog is not going to be about me and my accomplishments but it will be about my thoughts, other people and life in general.
